Auburn Municipal Civil Service
Meeting – 06 /05/2003 Minutes
Chairman Welch called the meeting to order at 11:00 am. Sec. Fulton took the roll. Present was Comm. Camardo and Comm. Welch. Also present, JD Pabis, Asst. Superintendent of the Auburn school district Comm. Brennan was absent.
Motion made by Comm. Camardo and seconded by Comm. Welch to approve the minutes of the meeting held on May 1/, 2003. Motion carried 2-0.
Old Business
Public Works Dept.
Discussion held of the titles used in the Recreation dept. remains tabled until next meeting.
School
Commissioners held a review and discussion of the new job spec for the Computer Lab Technician/ Library Clerk positions. Mary Carli, our MSD consultant. Ms. Carli drafted a new job description using the title of Computer Lab Clerk/Library Clerk based on the review of the questionnaires. The new spec was approved 2-0. Comm. Camardo made the motion, seconded by Comm. Welch. JD Pabis of the school district also reviewed and approved the new job spec. Next step is to await the decision of the Testing Division of MSD to have this position tested by an entry level decentralized clerical exam.
City Clerk Dept.
The Commission received a memo from the City Manager, John Salomone, requesting that the Registrar of Vital Statistics exam also be given as a promotional exam. Commission approved this request.
New Business
Discussion of the fee claim presented by the school district for holding exams in school facilities and paying the on premise custodian. Reduced fee of $375.00 was approved for payment for the March 2003 exams.
The Secretary reported that the results of the following examinations have been received from the State Department of Civil Service. The Commission directed that an eligible list for the following positions be established, effective June 5, 2003, for a duration of four years.
1. School Safety Officer # 60-739. Motion made by Comm. Camardo, seconded by Comm. Welch. Motion carried 2-0.
2. Stores Clerk school district # 62-307. Motion made by Comm. Camardo and seconded by Comm. Welch. Motion carried 2-0.
3. Records Retention Clerk # 61-711. Motion made by Comm. Welch and seconded by Comm. Camardo. Motion carried 2-0.
Scheduling of the decentralized Custodian exam remains tabled.
