Meeting – 05 /01/2003 Minutes
Chairman Welch called the meeting to order at 11:00 am. Sec. Fulton took the roll. Present was Comm. Brennan, Comm. Camardo and Comm. Welch.
Motion made by Comm. Camardo and seconded by Comm. Brennan to approve the minutes of the meeting held on April 3, 2003. Motion carried 3-0.
Old Business
School
Commissioners held a review and discussion of the desk audits of the Computer Lab Technician positions which were conducted on April 28, 2003. Unanimously, the Commission decided that those positions are entry level clerical. The questionnaires were sent to the State with Mary Carli, our MSD consultant, to have the questionnaires also reviewed by the New York State Testing Division of MSD to make their determination as to what is the level of the job duties.
New Business
Public Works Dept.
Discussion held of the titles used in the Recreation dept. The Commission requested a memo from the City Manager, John Salomone, as to what titles he would like to use for the recreation dept.
City Clerk Dept.
The Commission reviewed the new job duty statement and titled the position Registrar of Vital Statistics. Motion to approve this title was made by Comm. Welch and seconded by Comm. Brennan. Motion carried 3-0. Also, the questionnaire completed by the City Clerk and the City Manager was forwarded to the Testing Division of MSD as it is needed to complete the scope of the upcoming exam for this position.
The Commission also requested a memo from the City Manager, John Salomone was to his recommendation whether to hold this exam as promotional.
The Secretary reported that the results of the following examinations have been received from the State Department of Civil Service. The Commission directed that an eligible list for the following positions be established, effective May 1, 2003, for a duration of four years.
1. Fire Captain - promotional # 73-053. Motion made by Comm. Camardo, seconded by Comm. Brennan. Motion carried 3-0.
2. Fire Lieutenant - promotional # 73-054. Motion made by Comm. Brennan and seconded by Comm. Camardo. Motion carried 3-0.
Scheduling of the Custodian exam remains tabled.
