Auburn Municipal Civil Service
Meeting -  1/03/2002  Minutes
Chairman Welch called the meeting to order at 11:00 am.  Sec. Lee took the roll.  Present was
Comm. Welch. Comm. Camardo and Comm. Brennan. Also present was William Jacobs, newly elected Councilman.

Approve minutes of the regular meeting and public hearing of   12/6/2001 Motion to approve made by Comm. Brennan and seconded by Comm. Welch. Motion carried 3-0.
New Business
1.      Approve roster and eligibility list for the following exams:
a. Engineering Technician  - Motion made Comm. Camardo, 2nd Comm. Welch. Motion carried 3-0.
b. Assistant Civil Engineer - open competitive - Motion made Comm. Welch, 2nd by Comm. Brennan. Motion carried 3-0.
c. Assistant Civil Engineer- promotional- Motion made Comm. Welch, 2nd by Comm. Brennan. Motion carried 3-0.
d. Junior Engineer
2.      Police Dept.
  a. Discussion held about the upcoming Parking Meter Attendant exam. The exam is to establish a current eligible  list for  the  fulltime position. The City is looking to hire two part time attendants for a temporary appointment for the free parking program that is soon to be implemented in the City.  The appointees must come off he list of candidates for the exam as all positions in the City are competitive unless placed in another jurisdictional class  by the New York State Division of Civil Service. Memo to be sent to the City Manager regarding this matter. Councilman Jacobs requested that a copy of the memo be sent to the Council.
b.   Officer Dan Emmi applied to take the Police Lieutenant promotional exam which            was to be held on Sept. 22, 2001. Due to Sept. 11th crisis the test was postponed until January 12, 2002. In October Officer Emmi was appointed lieutenant of the current eligible list. Therefore Officer Emmi does not need to take the promotional exam and is eligible for a refund of the filing fee for which he must submit a written request.

3.      School District
Clerk to contact the school superintendent John Plume to inquire about the changes in the reclassification study and the status of the issue. Deadline to be set if school has failed to contact the State.

4.      Personnel changes - per attached
Comm. Camardo made the motion to adjourn.  Comm. Welch  made the second and meeting adjourned at  12:00 pm.
