Auburn Municipal Civil Service
Meeting - 11/01/01 Minutes
Chairman Welch called the meeting to order at 11:00 am. Sec. Lee took the roll. Present was
Comm. Welch. Comm. Camardo and Comm. Brennan. Also present was Lisa Green, City Assistant Comptroller; and William Gilbert, Asst. Supt. of Auburn Enlarged School District.
Approve minutes of the regular meeting of Oct.11,2001. Motion to approve made by Comm. Brennan and seconded by Comm. Camardo. Motion carried 3-0.
New Business
1. School District
Review of the questionnaire submitted by Michael Jones, AV repairperson for the school district. Sec. Lee read a letter from Steve Mathews, MSD. Discussion of the percentages of the actual job spec and that listed by Mr. Jones. Motion made by Comm. Camardo to keep the current title of the job spec AV Repairperson as the duties performed are not those of AV technician. Motion seconded by Comm. Welch. Motion carried 3-0.School and this Commission will monitor and do periodic reviews of this position. Meeting set for November 15, 2001 to further discuss the current reclassification study.
2. Finance Dept.
a. Discussion held regarding the new job duty statement submitted by the Finance Dept. Motion made by Comm. Brennan to accept the new position duty statement submitted and title the position Senior Clerk . Motion seconded by Comm. Welch. Motion carried 2-1 as Comm. Camardo voted to not accept the new title due to lack of supporting documentation.
b. Discussion of the upcoming Assistant Comptroller civil service exam due to be held Jan.12, 2002. Clerk instructed to seek new rates for advertisements this and further exams. Also instructed to investigate any available free ads for the exams.
3. Decentralized exam for Typist/ Keyboard Specialist is postponed until January 2002.
4. Meeting was set for November 8th 2001 for this Commission and the City Manager, John Salomone, to meet and discuss the departments heads5. Discussion of the Model Rules sent by NYS Civil Service Division to possibly implement these Rules with the reclassification study.
6. Discussion of CL 22-01 and CL 23-01 from the MSD of NYS Civil Service.
7. Personnel changes - per attached
Comm. Camardo made the motion to adjourn. Comm. Welch made the second and meeting adjourned at 12:00 pm.
Also, a meeting was held at Auburn School on Nov 15,2001. Sec. Lee, Comm. Camardo and Pat VanOrman, Civil Service clerk, attended and met with Mr. Plume and Mr. Gilbert, Supt. and Asst. Supt. of the school district. Discussion was held on the reclassification study and the questions the School has about the draft allocation list.
