Town of Antrim – Board of Selectmen
Meeting Minutes
October 3, 2011
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Chairman of the Board of Selectmen Michael Genest in the Antrim Town Hall.
Members Present: Mr. Genest and Mr. Robertson, Mr. Tenney
Staff Present: Galen Stearns (Town Administrator)
- Mr. Robertson motioned to accept minutes of September 19, 2011, Mr. Tenney 2nd, passed 3/0
- Mr. Robertson motioned to accept minutes of September 29, 2011, Mr. Tenney 2nd, passed 2/0/1 with Mr. Genest abstaining
Mr. Genest stated that the selectmen have received a request from the Planning Board to hold a Special Town Meeting to have a vote on 2 proposed Zoning Amendments. The first amendment is to adopt a Large Scale Wind Energy Facility Ordinance and the second amendment would prohibit Wind Energy Facilities and Meteorological Towers in the Rural Conservation District. Mr. Genest stated that the board would listen to public comments (3 – 5 minutes per person) but were not answering questions or debating the issues and that after the public had spoken, the selectmen would deliberate and vote to either approve or deny the request for a Special Town Meeting. Approximately 25 residents spoke, both in favor and against the holding the Special Town Meeting. After
everyone who wanted to speak had spoken, Mr. Genest closed the public portion of the meeting and the Selectmen debated the merits of holding a Special Town Meeting or waiting until the annual Town Meeting in March.
Mr. Genest motioned to deny the request for a Special Town Meeting. Motion failed due to no second to the motion.
Mr. Tenney motioned to hold a Special Town Meeting on November 8th, 2011 as requested, Mr. Robertson seconded. Motion passed 2/1 with Mr. Genest opposed
There being no further business, the Mr. Robertson motioned to adjourn, Mr. Genest 2nd, passed 3/0 meeting adjourned at 8:21 PM.
