Selectmen's Meeting Minutes 04/03/06
Selectmen Meeting Minutes –April 3rd, 2006

Present: M. Genest, R Haggett, and B. Pratt
Also in attendance: W. Prokop, S. Chatfield, L. Henderson, B. Varnum, C. Craig

The selectmen approved the minutes of the March 27th, 2006 meeting.

The selectmen approved the proposal to have a diver check out the underwater condition of the “gate” at Gregg Lake Dam. The cost is to be $3100.00.

The selectmen were advised that the Deering/Antrim bridge is now reopened with a weight limit of 10 tons.

B. Varnum then gave the selectmen an update on the activities of the Highway Dept. All the equipment per the lease-purchase agreement has been ordered and we are getting estimates for the value of the equipment we will be trading or selling. This money will then be used to offset the cost of a new loader later this year. The major concern is the cost of engineering, road and bridge repairs. It appears that the asphalt will be costing about 15% more this year than last and we are carefully reviewing our 2006 plans. A lot will depend on the finalization of both the state and Federal grants. The selectmen will be kept advised as we finalize our plans.

C. Craig then discussed the activities at the Transfer station. Hazardous Waste Day will be Saturday April 8th at the Hillsborough Transfer Station. The Clear Bag program will be started on May 1st and the bags have been ordered for those who will need to purchase them at the Transfer station. The new recycling committee will have its first meeting at 6:30 on April 11th at the Town Hall.

The selectmen reviewed general correspondence and approved payroll and A/P for the week.

Meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for 04/10/06 at 7:00 P.M.
