The minutes from the May 10, 2018 meeting were approved as written.
Memorial Park
Scott Dunlap Memorial Skate Event. Colin Isotti has been working on fixing up the skatepark.
Gregg Lake
Fireworks. Last year we had a problem with fireworks at the public beach. Celeste found an ordinance saying that fireworks may only be displayed on personal property or with permission.
Beach security. Celeste is considering using a chain system to sometimes block access to the beach area. She also asked for approval for the beach staff to move the float to the middle of the swim area. This is the deepest spot, and will allow swimmers to jump off both sides of the float, while still allowing a safe approach to the ladder at the front. Swimmers will be forbidden from jumping off the back of the float, and the beach staff will make a lap lane in the shallower water behind the float. Joan will work on weeding out the watershield in that area.
Moorings. Three sailboat moorings in the dog/kayak area are creating a navigational hazard. Owners of these moorings will be asked to move them back from the water’s edge, and the beach staff will put in some floating buoys to mark out the “pet and paddlecraft area.” Restrained signs will be painted on the rocks to identify the area.
The next regularly scheduled Parks & Recreation Commission Meeting will be Thursday, July 9th at 7:00 pm at the Rec Office.
