Charlie opened the meeting, welcomed everyone, and brief introductions were made. He reviewed the evening’s agenda and explained the charge by the selectmen given to the committee. One selectman requested that the surveys be available for summer residents to complete.
Melissa instructed the audience about the information on the displayed maps.
People then had the opportunity to closely view the maps, with the idea of first considering the kinds of land they considered to be important to preserve as open space, and secondly thinking about specific places.
Charlie reconvened the group to record opinions.

* Forest for wildlife (larger game and travel corridors) accessible to people
Higher elevations- for vistas and as corridors and links between conserved lands
Bottom lands
South facing slopes
Large blocks of undeveloped land (with no large structures in view)
Mountain tops (as energy spots)
Large blocks of forest for forest management
Cellar holes, mill sites, and other historical sites and accessibility to those sites
Prehistoric sites
It was also stated that:
growth should be near town to allow other areas to be protected
land should be protected to attract business and recreation

When all responses were recorded, Charlie thanked those in attendance and adjourned the meeting.
The next meeting will be a public meeting at 7:00 on Tuesday, July 12, 2005. The maps and aerial photo will again be displayed and the committee will be seeking to inform and gain further input from community members.
